how much of a diff will you get going from a 3 blade alum prop to a 4 blade ss if all variables stay the same "same boat same max rpm

A four blade prop - all things being equal will slow you down a bit but provide a little extra hole shot and power. The fastest propellor boats - Unlimited Hydroplanes use two and three blade surface props. Four blades cannot respond (fill the bite) fast enough at high RPM.
