I was given a 1959 Thompson Seacoaster 16" by a very generous family yesterday. I have a few questions and I can post photos if it would help.

The boat has a Johnson 35 hp Sea Horse and a Johnson 40hp mounted on it. They are probably the original motors. The boat has been sitting under their beach house for 30 years. I had to drag the boat/trailer out with a bobcat.

Cost effectiveness- Have the old motors reworked or get new?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,....
I'd think at least a basic assessment of exactly What you've got to work with, Vs. just throwing it All away would be a Good place to Start...

Same with the Hull......

Are you a Mechanic,..?? a Carpenter,..?? Just plain ole Handy,..??
Lot's of Info is available about the Motors in the JohnnyRude outboard forum...
