just aquired what I think is a 69 80hp but has issue

Ok I was given a 80hp merc serial 2562314 I think it's a 69 the btm end is off . The story is that it was taken apart for a impeller replacement and then a stud was broke off and then it was just left.

well it's not a stud that is broke it is the boss the stud threads into . This is in the uper housing not in the lower. I hav not had time to look to see if there is material left that I can go deeper with a longer stud or not yet .

I will try for some pictures tomorrow
good thing is it does have new impeller installed

Ouch! Dude........ Heli-arc and a re-tap. Either way that section gotta come off! If it were me, I'd just look for a replacement!

here is a question is that stud to hold stuff or does the tightness also seal items in the area.
