I just bought this boat for $500. The motor was rebuilt about 250 hours ago and runs good. The interior is ok shape but the seats will have to be covered. There are no soft spots in the boat and it seems to be solid. Problem is that the electrical components worked fine last week but no do not. I am talking about bilge, fan horn, lights and radio have all stopped working. The dashboard components work fine and the trim works as well. I am not sure why some of this stopped working. Any help would be appreciated as any comments about the boat pictures.

congrats on the new boat, very nice lookin (mind ya you will get some input on the motor eventually).
as for the power issue check for burnt out fuses/relays, as these may all run off the same circuit, next would be a conector could have came apart or corroded, lots of possibilities you will just have to trace back to were the circuits come together. :)

thanks any advice is appreciated I noticed the HIN is gone. I have it on the the title but not on the boat. Now all I have to do is fine the fuse box. I think this is a 1800 series Capri but not sure

I have an 89 Capri 1950 CX 2.3L. The fuses are on the reverse side of the dash, directly under the steering wheel.

I bought mine last spring and have been happy with it. I did have an issue with the timing being 10 degrees retarded, giving me rough idle and occasional backfires. Changed out the timing belt and retimed and it has run great since.

I'm adding a flowmeter to the boat, hooked to my Lowrance LMS-520C and hope to get a handle on the best running spped.

And if you store it under a cover, you might want to pick up one or two bows from West Marine or Overton to keep the cover from slacking behing the seats and pooling rain/snow/ice.

Good luck with your boat.

Gotta love the Battlestar Galactica dashboard. The motor is no longer supported and I am sure others will chime in on the drive package overall. For $500.00 I guess you can't be too picky though.

When all the dash functions quit working, that means the main feed to the helm switch panel has either tripped a breaker, or blown a 30A fuse. That would be a yellow one...but then, if it's a glass fuse...pull them out and check!;)

If you need an owner manual, call Bayliner at 360-435-5571. They will need the HIN and will mail you a copy at no charge. That will give you the wiring diagram for the boat plus wiring for all engines used with your model.

I'd also suggest tracking down an OMC Factory Manual. You can find them coming up on ebay or do a google search. I picked up mine through ebay and it included a parts manual for the 2.3L. Great since it has breakdown diagrams and OMC part numbers. You can then crossreference that number for parts.

As for the bow, on my boat the cover will pool water in the area between the seats and stern. The bows allow you to put an arch in there to support the cover and prevent water from pooling. If you want, I can forward the information on them from the West Marine site.

Where are you located?

BTW, what game are you talking about? "If it ain't NASCAR, it ain't a sport"

Growing up in Chicago, sometimes we would go to an indoor skating rink...and there would be these guys with brooms, and a big old, hell, I don't know what you call it, hockey puck on steroids...

Actually, I've been a Gordon fan for as long as I can remember. And I do follow NASCAR. But to compare Jimmy Johnson to, oh, say Brett Favre? I don't think so...

Of course, Jimmy Johnson is smart enough not to get in the middle of some really big guys and try to keep a ball away from them.

Farve, someone who isn't smart enough to know he is too old to be beat up.

You got a heck of a bargain, IMO. I paid a LOT more for mine, and it has, uh, issues.

The owner's manuals of that vintage are very generic. I also have an '88, and the manual covers all Capris and a few other lines, and it has wiring diagrams for each model family.
