Hello all, I am the new owner of a Starflite with a new 85 force motor. Boat is in great shape, just needs a good cleaning. Got it for $1400 with a trolling motor and fish finder and trailer.

Couple questions:

1. Listed weight is 850 lbs on iboats. Is this with motor? I figure the trailer is another 300-400 lbs, so I should be ok to tow it with my car. Recommended towing capacity is 1k lbs, and I will only be towing it about 1.5 miles.

2. Tach is not connected. Can I run a wire from the purple engine wire (tach) straight back to the tach or is there an easier way?

3. Any recommendations or suggestions for those that have more experience with this boat? Its my first boat and I plan on upgrading after I learn the ropes :)

Ayuh,...
#1,.. That's the Bare hull, when New... Weight it, I'm Sure it's more now...

#2,.. Purple is usually the igntion circuit, Not the tach signal wire, but I don't do Force...
Somebody else will correct me...

#3,.. Any recommendations or suggestions for those that have more experience with this boat?

Bondo has it, that hull with motor/fuel/safety gear/batteries etc...and its age is likely closer to 2000lbs now. Just a guess, load her up and head to a local weigh station. Also look at your vehicles gross COMBINED capacity, cuase then you add the weight of it's occupants as well. Will it break your car on the first tow, not likely, is it safe, nope.
