Just bought a boat with no title, what do you suggest to do?

Like the title says....

I live in Oklahoma and bought a 14ft alumacraft boat w/ trailer for 125 dollars. no title but I do have a signed and noterized bill of sale. The boat was registered in 2001.

Has anyone had a simular situation and succesfully gotten a title for yourself and registered it?

BLLDOGG, you posted this in Dockside Chat forum, where we argue politics and fight over the remote control. The short answer is, you need to talk to the DMV in your state to find out what they need. The long answer may come from someone who lives in your state and been through it, but you won't know it, because a Moderator is coming down the hall and he's going to move this to Boating Topics and Questions forum where you can't find it. Give me that remote kid...

Get the HIN (hull identification number) off the starboard side of the transom... with this you can find the registered owner and either give it back and sue the guy that sold it to you, or get them to release the title to you...

no i'm not done, give it back... dang it......
