Interesting.....I have owned two Scorpions & neither one looked like that.....One (83)looks like the picture on the old Clymer's manual,(color & all) except it was a cuddy, seated six.......The second one (88) had more of a taller profile & a head, fridge & sink & only seated four.....I'll have to check out the Chris site....They were both solid boats....Good luck with yours.....JK

I have seen the Scorpion that you are talking about. There is one for sale at the Owen Sound Marina. It is a taller boat. My boat is very similar to Kopasetic's except it has the mid engine and different seating. There is a back to back seat over the dog house that turns into a queen size bed. I have a 17 pitch prop on it now and I am thinking of putting on a 19 to get a better top end. It comes out of the hole like a rocket now, I was thinking the 19 couldn't hurt. Any thoughts??? Would a 4 blade be better??

Re: Just bought mid-engine Chris Craft Scorpion

I have owned a 1988 mid-engine Scorpion 210 since we bought it new in 1989. It is a great setup, much better than the standard rear engine outdrive. They didn't make many because it cost about $3000 more than the standard.

Our boat was one of the last boats made by the Murray Boat Company. I think they were already going out of business when we bought it. I have never heard of the other companies mentioned.

We have never had to do any major work on it and it still looks and runs great. Our boat will run at about 51-52 mph at 4400 rpm. It sounds like yours is reasonable with a bigger boat and the same drive train. It is a great family boat. We went from a pickle fork hydro the the CC. Have fun and take care of it. It is great to go the boat shops and they have never seen a mid-engine Merc.

Another terrific mid-engine/jack shaft Canadian boat is the Hinterhoeller (now Mediros) Limestone 24. My step-father has one and it is just incredible in big water -- probably due in large part to that big motor plunked well forward. You can just see the top of the engine box in this shot I found online.
