want to buy an impeller kit for my boat. the questions i asked were: does it have 1 or 2, do i have gen2 alpha drive, do i give you drive serial or engine serial #, etc etc. he didn't know so he directed me to sierra for boat part # and then call back, of course sierra was closed.

engine serial # ol080644
drive serial # ol424823

its a 99 5.0l alpha one with thunderbolt ignition

can anyone tell me what impeller kit i need to buy, also is their one or two impellers. and how hard is it to change and where is it located on the engine.

A 99 is an Alpha I Gen II drive. There is only one impeller in the drive.

The impeller is located in the drive, at the top of the lower gearhousing. You have to split the leg to get at it. The part number for the impeller is 47-43026--2. You'll also need the 2 base plate gaskets, part numbers 27-43033--1 and 27-817277, and a couple of litres of high performance gear oil.

Not knocking 'em, but Iboats is a clearing house for retailers and wholesalers. When you call Iboats you're not calling a "store" that's staffed with knowledgeable associates and reference books, you're getting an order clerk with a computer who processes your order, sends it to a supplier, and credits a retailer somewhere with the sale.

I would be looking for the Mercruiser 47-43026Q06 impeller kit. Includes the gaskets, face seal, lower wear plate, and oring for the water tube. About 45 bucks, that 817275A4 kit is the complete pump and goes for $143, But hey, what's a hundred bucks?
