1967 Evinrude Fastwin that I just picked up from a friend whose Dad was the original owner. Basically this motor has seen little use over the past years and is not in too bad shape.

Tried to start it and no spark. Cut to the chase.

1967 had original coils. I purchased new coils, condensors and new points. I figure it was due and I wanted to do it right. When I removed everything to get to the coils there was a covering of oil residue on everything. Not too heavy but enough to annoy me. I removed the coil mounting plate and sure enough more oil/greasy residue.

I examined the crank seal and it appeared okay??? and not too oily.

Could this accumulation just be a 39 year collection from the engine cowl. I suspect it might be from the carb fumes over the years.

I cleaned it all all and after I installed everything I had a beautiful bright strong spark.
