Doc just called ... Nate has improved enough to be transported to UPMC (think the show Three Rivers). They are still not sure what is going on, and will have to oxygenate the blood externally for Nate to make the trip. They hope to have him prepped for the trip this evening.

The family has dealt with cancer (mother) and Lupus (daughter) in the past year. No vacation / sick time left and can't afford to take off to be with Nate ... looks like I might be heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow. Thanks for your prayers and continued support.

Art, I don't know you but everyone deserves a family friend like you. Your devotion is overwhelming. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Prayers are constrantly streaming your way directed at Nate. Hopefully he will turn a corner heading toward better soon. It makes it so much tougher when blood testing is all they have to go on. With the way insurance or lack there of works here it makes me think I want to move to Canada.

Best wishes and prayers again and again. Positive thought is a powerful thing.

I'll second the comment about your devotion as a friend. These are the times when people find out who they can really count on and you have proven to be the real deal.

Thanks for all your prayers for Nate ... but his battle is now over. His parents and brother and sister need the prayer now. As the doctors were getting ready to transport him to Pittsburgh Nate suffered a massive heart attack. It was his time.

I have just gotten back from the hospital where we said our good-byes to Nate. Thanks again for your prayers.

Sometimes, unfortunately, that is how things end. Suddenly. A few years back my wife's father had a stroke. We kept vigil at the hospital for a few days and a few surgeries. He woke up and was as talkative as could be. My wife and I went home when things were looking up. Two days later my wife called me at work to say her brother called and her dad took a turn for the worse and just dies.

Art - I am very saddened by this news. I can't imagine the pain everyone is going though now.

Our thoughts and prayers will continue for his family and for you. Hang in there Art, you are a good friend and I can only inmagine that your help will still be needed. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this tough time as well.

I never know what to say when I see posts like these, but I kept this page open since I first saw it and kept checking back hoping for a good outcome. It was a roller coaster for Nate and although getting better would have been the best, he can now rest in peace. I'm sorry for everyone's loss. Also, Art it's people like you that allow myself to still have some faith in humanity and by you doing this for people you call friends, I know they're good people as well which makes this all the more difficult. I'm not a religious man, but I do pray they can find the strength to honour Nate's life, and for comfort for the days/weeks/months that will follow.

Is this Nate from the forums here..? with that 4 cylinder he was rebuilding...

I missed this thread and actually i havent been here in a week or two...

I gotta say I read the whole thread as when I saw Nate...well you know

It made me tear up..I am very saddened by your loss and I wish the best for the family...

As I read I was thinking monococcal pneumonia as I knew a friend who died in a few short hours from this...less than 10 hours

I lost my Uncle a few years ago and the post you made about the Hospital were the same for me I remember..accept I lived there til the end...

Again give out best to the family....
