Just got my boat today

Well I went and picked up my 2011 Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW today so it's been a GREAT day thus far. I just got home and as I did a walk around on the boat I realized I forgot to ask the purpose of something. Can someone please tell me what this is and the purpose of it:

I read through all my manuals and did some google searching to no avail. Thanks in advance for helping out a n00b boat owner. Thanks!

That was my best guess, thanks for the fast reply! I'm the kind of person that has to know what each thing is and what it does, just the way I was raised.

Believe it or not ........goes to your speedometer.

no way.......your wrong......that is an automatic fishing line holder........you attach a line and hook to it........and when a fish gets on the line.....a needle in a big thing in the middle of your dash (kinda looks like a clock....but only goes to 60 or 70) moves....it will tell you how much your fish weighs.

Pitot Tube is what you meant to type, I'm guessing. lol
and likely they are great for fishing with!

Good one! I'm sure Henri Pitot doesn't mind too much. The pitot tube is also used for measurement of air speed applications also, so I wish to give you the benefit of the doubt as to your "pilot" mix-up! We all prefer the use of GPS these days, but one doesn't always have this luxury.

Hi wbc. I googled "pilot tube" and got........nothing. Interesting read on on the use and principles of the pitot tube from it's inception. I'm changing my ways today. Pitot it is! My English and spelling ain't the best.

We had the sun and moon before the pitot tube. Never owned a boat with a speedo, but I may.
