Just got our new SS160

Now I just have to wait 5 LOOOOONG months till I can splash her due to the arctic climate up here in Maine

I think that I got a pretty good deal on it .....1990 16' with a Merc 60 and trailer for 1300.
Floor is solid with the back half replaced by the previous owner. Need to do a bit to the Merc as it is VERY hard starting but for 1300 I can deal with that as I had quite a bit more in the original budget......
Now it is time to get the motor done up and then a bit of customizing!! woohoo

We also had a very cool full moon last night too!!

Nice boat, looks like you found a good one. 5 months may be too long of a wait. I do not know where you live, however with an outboard they can be ran and re winterised in a couple of minutes. I recomend a tune up and carb rebuild. Warmer winter days are great for getting it ready for spring. You should be ready as soon as the ice melts.

Hard starting is 20-30 seconds of cold cranking before it will finally catch. I am planning to bring to my mechanic as I am in a condo so working on the engine on the hose is a big nono.

The cushions are clean but a bit worn and will need to be replaced as the edges on all are ripping a bit.

First thing to check is your sparkplugs.....might help alot right away....also make sure they are gapped correctly

Welcome and good luck with the motor. Only thing more fun than a running motor is a motor that will continue to run. Having said that, make sure your mechanic installs a new water impellar. You can never assume the old one is good & you wouldn't want to blow up an engine. Please give us new bigger pics.

Mercury says it all Kev. They love cold weather. I love merc's to death, but my right arm is now larger than my left.

Welcome to our litle slice of internet heaven. Carb rebuild sounds like good advice Nomad. Even better advice is the impellar change.

Michigan is near tropic compared to Maine!
