just bought a really cool baja 200 fish and ski. 21 foot open bow boat with 1989 200xp evinrude v6. first thing i noticed is this boat is oil injected and has a separate oil tank in storage instead of on the motor. is this a good idea? should i replace this oil injection system and if so how hard is this to accomplish? also i think this boat is rare because i cant find any information on it. thanks for replys

There are more important things to do than starting out by modifying a perfectly good system. If the vro system didn't work they would have abandoned it a long time ago.
I would go through the engine from top to bottom, rebuild carbs, replace water pump etc, change gear oil.
Resist the urge to just gas up and put it in the water, they are great engine but all it takes is a bit of dirt in a carb to melt a piston.

i need a little more information about this boat motor. 1989 evinrude 200 xp vro. i noticed today the oil like coming out of the oil tank is about 4 feet too long. and also this line has a bubble on it near the tank and its solid as a rock. is there a need to ever pump this bubble? is it ok that the oil like is really long? im really happy that i bought this boat and the motor seems like its in great shape

My oil line is 12 feet long, coiled up.
The bulb tends to get hard, I kneel on it to loosen it up.
Then you can pump it with 2 hands to pressurize the system, it will draw on its own after that.
That motor is highly regarded around here (iBoats).
But you should get the factory service book, the best $50 you will spend on your boat bar none.

Do you know the service history of the motor?

do not know the service history. the boat runs great. i just wanted to get all the details so i can keep it running that way. it seems like the water pump might be a little weak. takes about 30 seconds before it really starts shooting out water. im really happy with my purchase

The water pressure gauge will let you know when it's time for a water pump. Since this is a new-to-you motor the pump should be changed now. When you do change it use the higher pressure 5001595 kit rather than the standard 5001594 kit. When cold it will take a few seconds for the overboard indicator to start showing while the block is being filled. The water cavity is rather large on a 90* looper. What you're describing sounds pretty normal.
