Ok, did some checking and found info on the CR44N spark plug for the older heads.
http://www.gsparkplug.com/shop/ac-cr44n.html seems they have the 3/4" reach you need.
and on down the page it shows the NGK equivalent as BR6ES. These are also not as long a thread as the first plug you pictured.
You obviously have the older head on your engine. Not sure that xL plug you have there will work, or fit. Get either the CR44N or the BR6ES
