hey fellas'
I have a 1972 Mercury 65HP 650 w/ Thunderbolt ignition outboard, I overhauled it with fresh lower unit seals, and it wasn't starting so distributor cap/rotor, wires/plugs, ignition coil were replaced and right after all the work it ran great. Anyway it sat out of water for about a month and a half, and now I can't get it to start! It just cranks over and I tried the idle tab in all positions and choke on/off and it just wont even cough. Fuel comes out of the carbs cause eventually it starts to pour out and flood after alot of cranking. I took the plugs out a couple times and clean them up with fine sand paper and brake cleaner but still no go. Also the gas might be 2-3 months old, and I am premixing 25:1, is that too rich in terms of oil and could the gas have gone bad ? Its 91 octane from Shell.
Any ideas ?
thanks in advance
