Let me just explain what happened the day My starter went out, Ok I started the boat and she fired right up, put here in gear and gave her some throttle and I heard a little whirring noise(don't know how else to describe it) A whirring noise, Almost kind of like the noise of the turbo on a diesel engine, A high whirring sound, could that have been the shaft and gear of the starter(bendix)
stuck in the flywheel that I was hearing?? Thats why I turned her around and beached her back at our campsite, didn't know that the starter wasn't working at the time, I got back in the boat about 5min later to see if I could locate that sound and thats when I turned the key and the starter just whined and wouldn't catch, Thats when I realized that the starter was shot. I am out now pulling the starter off and thats when I thought I would check with you guys if it is possible the shaft and gear(bendix) could have gotten stuck in the fly wheel, Its the only time I heard that noise before, then starter was shot. Thanks.......Pat
Off to pull the starter now??
