Re: just used Joe Reeves timing advance method

I have not tried it since the Joe Reeves method. When I set it on the trailer I then went to the bay and set it in to test it. I idled out and took the cowl off, hooked up the timing light and told my wife to start the engine, the timing light wasn't working, I have since bought a new one. but that day i ran it for just a few minutes,It seemed to accelerate fine and the upper end seems to be a bit slower by about 5 mph, and i could hear the vibration, and I was hopeing that this was from me having the timing wrong on the upper end as I do not here it while I am at idle in gear. or just at idle just at acceleration.

Update.....
went through all the wiring and everything was wired in correct, took it out to the bay and set in for about 15 min. and pulled it again. Still was not right. Came home and re-removed flywheel, stator, and timing base and placed the old timing base that was ceasing up on me back on. I left all of the settings the same as they were with the new timer base. checked again using the Joe Reeves method and the timing was less by 7 deg. telling me that the problem is in the new timing base, I will contact maringeengine.com today and have them replace the timing base.

Hope this works

I just went thru the above posts again and see no mention of a model number.

What is the model number of that engine?
