You have seen my K2500 CHev that I rebuilt the bed on in this forum..... it has one ton springs.....

Well I have to blame Wallyworld for this one ........

Wallyworld had a clearance sale on patio blocks and I have been wanting a patio. I could not pass up on the price being the thrify (cheap) person that I am so I grabbed the truck...... went back to wallyworld.

I purchased 150 16 X 16 blocks. 90 of them were on a pallet and the others were not. A kind forklift operator helped me and loaded the truck.

Hmmmmm it was squatting pretty good  Today I unloaded the blocks in my yard for this future patio project..... I weighed one block.... OMG they weigh 31 lbs each! Yup 4650 in blocks + one pallet ...... oh did I mention that the aluminum tool box accross the back of the truck carries all my tow chains and tire chains. Yikes! No wonder it looked like it was squatting!

Truck took it like a champ! Glad I have good springs and brakes.

Lesson learned.

Not sure if it's right but I've heard that the wheel lugs could snap instead of the suspension giving up.

It was a slow 10 mile trip and darn smooth too. I don't imagine the springs have been stressed like that since they were installed.

Re: K2500 Acid test

I had a 89 C1500 (1/2 ton Chebby) that hauled 10-11 loads of washout concrete in. On the last load I asked the guy to weigh it for me out of curiousity. He explained that he couldn't because then they'd be liavble knowing I was overweight. A $20 bill and I was on the scales. I had a touch over 3500 in it! He and I both about chitted our pants. He kept quiet and so did I. Stupid and dangerous but it got the job done. Had I known it was anywere near that I would have never even tried.
