Kawasaki KLR650 carb problem....

Any KLR wizards out there? My 92 KLR started starving for fuel. At least thats what it seems like. Put a new diaphram kit in the petcock valve to no avail. Getting plenty of fuel. New plug... nothing.<br /><br />I have fire. It hits every once in a while, But was wondering if the float could be sticking..... Hate to start taking everything apart at the moment since I am already in over my head rewiring my boat.... but I sure do miss my weekly rides.

I am no expert here on this so if I sound like an idiot forgive me. IF this is for a motorcycle and it has manual choking for each carb check the chokes on each carb. My old yamaha had similar problems. One of the chokes was not opening all the way and was fouling on that cylinder. I used some carb cleaner on it and kept working it and finally it came free and ran great after that.

air leak .check your intakes between the head and carb body espesally if it has the old hardened plastic types ,metal ones have o-rings or gaskets

Take the carb apart and just give it a good clean-out. It sounds like you've either got water in there fron the gas tank or some crud in your main jet (if this is the twincarb single cyl model it may be your secondary choke playing up) Blow it all through with compressed air. The intakes should be rubber covered metal tubes with o-ring seals by the way.

Thanks for the replies. So far I have removed the carb and had it bench cleaned at a shop. They advised me it had a minor clog in one jet, but overall it was very clean. Now to prime it. That seems to be a job.
