I am looking for opinions, is the Hamby's light duty worth the extra money over the Keelguard?

Re: keel guards

i personally don't think any of them are worth the money. it only protects 3 inches of the bottom. when beaching come in slow, and don't ram the bow into the sand or rocks. you wouldn't push a dirt mound with the bumper of the car, would you? if it's for loading keep your keel rollers serviced.

Re: keel guards

mainly for letting people in and out of the boat at the ramp there is not a dock at the lake I use and it is either lots of mud/clay or the motor up to the ramp (concrete)

Re: keel guards

I would epoxy some kevlar on the keel and call it good.. it may not look real sweet but it works very well... get some kevlar cloth and lay about 3 or 4 layers on the keel. it's tough stuff...d:)
