I heard about one that glues on to the center keel so when beaching the boat, its not damaged.

I've seen those, they are called a keel guard. If you beach your boat allot they should help protect it, if you don't beach it allot it's wasted cash to me. Look here in I-boats, I'm sure they sell them.

I have heard of them being used on tinnies, but I think they're generally designed for glass boats only. Do some poking around on line and you'll find varying degrees of success.

They have models for aluminum- wider than the glass version to accomodate the bumps common on aluminum boats. Pronounced keels, strakes or chines seem to be more common on those, along with weld lines and /or rivets. If the hull is painted it can be an issue as well. I have the Megaware on my glass boat and have seen the 12" beasts for the aluminum boats out there. Just follow the instructions well, (you can Google them up to read about them before you buy) and take your time. Mine has been on for 4 years and shows no signs of wear yet. Very good product IMHO.
