Hello!
Is it ok to keep the boat in the water right now in Ontario, Canada? I have a 140 evinrude on a fiberglas sunbird. The temp outside is -3 C at night and +4 C high during the day. I have a new top with plastic (or linolium) side windows. I still hope to catch some big fish. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

The problem i had before is that these plastic side windows in enclosure, cracked, when i left them on the boat for winter. Maybe i'll just put oil on them :)

Don't put oil on them.. They will crack in the cold, be careful with them.

Where you fishing? Wish I had kept one boat out, all mine are sleeping for the winter and the musky are biting!

I am on a river in Cooks Bay. I will just take the plastic windows out then. Hopefully no animal will crawl in the boat.

Hi There, If you have insurance on your boat you may want to check with your insurance broker to confirm when the boat must be out of the water by.

Never let the insurance company dictate when and what you do with your boat. If they give you grief, find another company. There are many that will be waiting in line to fill the old company s shoes. Sometimes they forget they work for us.

ins companies are totally clueless about real world things. i hit a deer about a year ago, called to report the accident.

first question....what time of day did the incident occur?.....7am
next question....what direction were you travelling?.....due north
next question....where was the sun in relation to your direction of travel...to your left, right, rear or front?

We boat on the St. Lawrence till the 1st week of December. Sometimes you need to thaw out the leg to free up the impeller.
Also if there is a a lot of wave action you may have to chip off ice so you can steer.
My 70 year old mother managed during the week by herself.
