Economy is tough, gas is up, yadda, yadda, yadda. We all know that. Im gettin curious if we can start a thread about.... oh... I dunno, anything.. something that wont get someone all rialed up to get it get closed. I like a good debate as much as the next guy but c'mon its all a fight now. Been alot of tension around here lately, we gotta be able to agree on something.. this is silly.

Nope, will never happen as long as there are more than 2 "members" on the form, they will eventually disagree about something. And the Mods will be obligated to Zapp the thread.

Yep, see Don S locked my thread, over what I see zip. Zero political, but alls "future"...and your grandchildren...and the whole US as we know it..."silence the masses/majority"...(they just might have a point..but not "PC")..and the problem will go away....
Goodbye Iboats...been fun...but refuse to be "throttled"...on a "thought"...and get nailed/locked...on a thread... for what is our country, going the "tubes"....seya...(MODS..why just ya don't STOP D/C...wouldn't that solve the problem? Back too the "hull truth"...don't need "mind control" here anymore..
This gets locked too? I will NEVER send people to IBoats again, like in the past. Internet is a big thing...and knowledge is everywhere...
Your foot IBoats, your bullet, and the big toe should be bleeding now...
Again, seya...been a gas..."bye"...

What you don't see is all the posts they had to delete... so give 'em a break... they are just trying to keep the peace in here.

If we can't "let it out", well...don't get "paranoid"..they ARE after you...last post...bye...and as a Nam vet...in battle 40 years ago...well.."rank" don't matter...I give up...and this is the last post..50 years knowledge wrenching/Machinist..keep it to myself, and pay me the bucks for that knowledge now...private shop, full machine tools..can make anything...now at a price....I'll need it for gas now anyway...
Bye...

Do we really need to let out insults directed at each other or at groups of people? That doesn't blow off steam, it just makes more of it.

IF you decide to go, that's your choice, we'll miss you around here, but we'll also go on without you. Maybe we'll see you around on the lakes.

Next will be motor manuals in 4 different languages
"Again...not worth my time here anymore.."..and a sad thought on my end..gonna miss what was at one time "the best" Forums...later..(maybe..but doubt it...)

Re: Keeping a thread open?

Just wondering.
When I go to a sports bar people talk sports, when my friends go to church, they talk religion, when I donate blood the talk is mostly about how many times did you donate and why do you do it.
When I visit dockside chat,it is mostly to hear friendly relaxed people converse about their day on the water or about the dinner they plan to have with friends.Or at worst, whine and moan about where they would rather be.
Those who try to turn their dock into a battle ground should go out on the water a bit more so they can relax and chat with their friends when they come back.

Sometimes I think that the net is a place where people love to rant because it is here that you can express the thoughts that most people keep to themselves when they are face to face with each other. And for good reasons.
Maybe Iboats should add a therapy forum called "Rant".
Come to think of it,Iboats would save some people a lot of money they would otherwise spent on their therapists.
By opening "Rant", Iboats could redirect that money into their online store with smart adds like:"Are you mad? Buy an Iboats sledge" or for the more sophisticated ranters "Want to Change the world? Do it online"

Re: Keeping a thread open?

Why all the drama, no one likes a political debate any more than myself, well almost anyone (think murky) there?s plenty of spots on the net for that; debate politics.com comes to mind, if one likes serious debate. I come here to visit with what I consider old friends, of course if the old friends happen to want debate a bit of politics would be happy to oblige them, just not here. This will go the way of the "dodo" after the eh,eh, ehhhh:D anyway, think eh, eh , ehhhh:D. See you just have to get the gigs in under the radar, who knows the thread just might survive at least an hour. ;)

Re: Keeping a thread open?

I don't think there is any mind control or any of that going on. The mods are doing their jobs to keep this place family friendly. We all know that political threads will eventually lead to something that iboats would probably rather not associate with. You can say you aren't being political all that you want, but when it obvious that it will turn into something that is (based on the personalities that are here) the mods have every right to close it. We have the right to stay or go whenever we please......they have the right to run this site the way they want to.

Its their business. Thats the bottom line.

Re: Keeping a thread open?

People make a few thousand posts and tend to get a bit attached to a webside. What happens is they loose sight of the fact that it is just a website. Its not the world. Just a little tiny insignificant piece of it, compared to the grand scheme of things.

Look, if a website gets you upset, just move to another one. Don't get upset, don't let it ruin the fun. These websites have their place in your life, just don't make it a major piece of your life.

Another thing people mistake is that they think this is public and open website. Its not. Its owned by the iboats folks and you have to do what they say. If they say shut up, you shut up. They are not suppressing your freedom of speech. You want to spout your thoughts without editing, go stand on the side of a road and hold up a sign. Thats freedom of speech.

Poor Scaaty lost sight of the significance of this website. He let it get to him. He gave it more importance than it really has. That is a very bad mistake.

Too bad.

I agree that its hard not to express a strong opinion on certain topics. Like the gasoline related economic meltdown Too many people upset for a friendly chat about it so Im going to avoid it.:D

Re: Keeping a thread open?

Well Knot that went well...

I'll also miss Scaaty, colorful and helpful. Being relatively new to this forum it certainly doesn't seem to be the norm to lose a Vice Admiral. Spending some time at other forums it can get down right nasty, insultive and hostile. Its not that way here.

As for stupid posts and folks. Well thats why people come here to learn, be safer, smarter and better themselves in a tricky environment. Big thanks to those who answer the same questions over and over. Its probably saved a life somewhere.

I think Mark42 makes some great points.

And lastly Scaaty woulda probably been banned anyway for hi-jacking a thread ... j/k

My 2 pennies
