You can mount a kicker bracket on the port side...Starboard is preferred, but not a big difference and many boats due this. Also, you will want to make sure you have access for the bracket bolt nuts and plates that go on the inside of the transom.

yeah thanks, the swim ladder is on starboard which is why i want to mount it to port. but first i have to find a motor which doesnt suck as much as the gamefisher i was looking at before
