kicker motor

looking to buy a good kicker for my lund boat,going salman fishing in a couple of weeks. i have a 18 ft prov lund any thoughts on how big and what kind. thanks dan

Dan...I've seen motors from 6hp to 15hp used on that size boats for inland salmon fishin. For relatively quiet inland waters I like 6-8hp kickers...for ocean going boats I would opt for the larger hp models. The smaller motors will will easily overcome any current so you can manuever and troll. The larger ones can get you back to shore if your main motor fails...that's my thinkin' anyhows

I was thinking of putting one on my 20"Lund a while back. Bought a trolling motor instead. Back to the kicker, a 15 hp weighs the same as an 8 so why not do the 15? That was my thinking anyways....... Good Luck
