Everyone has been helpful here so I am very thankful- most seem to know their stuff. I bought a new to me a 22' 1973 HiLiner earlier in the summer. I plan on fishing near coastal here in Southern MA during the Fall Striper run. Is there an aftermarket lanyard I can use to kill the engine should I go over the side for any reason? I know I would have to customize something the age of the boat but am looking for ideas here. The engine is a 1998 Mercruiser 4.3 L 4 BBL.

Re: Kill lanyard/switch?

West Marine sells a "emergency kill switch" that is wired in series with the ignition switch ..... the switch is normally open, but in service is held in the closed position with a device that slides into place over the on/off button... the lanyard fastens to this device, and if you pull the lanyard, the device pulls off, opens the switch and kills the engine.... fairly expensive at $27 ... maybe someone else knows of a similar switch for less money..... mounts on the dash through a 1/2" hole ......

Thank you- don't know how I missed these in my search here. The Seachoice with the 50' lanyard looks like the one!
