Re: Kill switch???

If you had a fuel problem, it wouldn't keep running if you have the key in the start position.

Re: Kill switch???

Yes dester is tester/meter. On top of the coil there are 2 wires that lead to it, one on each side, one is marked with a - the other with a +. Or am i testing in the wrong place. Its right up on top, left and rigth side of the blue cored/wire that runs to the dist. cap

Re: Kill switch???

You test voltage with your meters black test lead to ground. The - terminal of a coil however, is not ground.

Black lead of meter on battery negative terminal, red test lead to + terminal of coil with ignition switch in the run position to check voltage to coil.

Set the meter on DC volts, Not AC volts.

Re: Kill switch???

If you checked the switch properly, and the coil properly, then you have an open in the wiring somewhere between the ignition switch and the coil. I can't even begin to tell you how to go about finding it.

Re: Kill switch???

Older automotive engines did the same thing when the ballast resistor / wire went bad. Starter circuit bypassed the ballast and powered coil w/ full battery voltage. Curious, does his set up has a ballast wire / resistor in it?

Re: Kill switch???

Welcome aboard Austin, you really need to start a new thread of your own instead of dragging up old threads because you have the same problem. You may have the same problem, but not the same cure, so might as well list all your engine information in a new thread of your own.
