2 stroke, 4 stroke, inboard, outboard, jetski, fuel injected, oil injected, oil premix, champion plugs, chineese plugs, killing as in fouled, or killing as in electrodes burned off, killing as in don't spark any more????

That was an awful vague question!

small single, obviously not an inboard (unless make or break), dont see many single cyl jet skis, or even fei singles! appreciate the response tho.
to clarify, its not fowling the plug, im using champion d-16's. it runs, misses a bit, but after a short run in a barrell, the plug is dead.....no spark! a new plug fires good, but at $4 each for plugs it makes fishin expensive! any thoughts

weak coil and a bit of oil fouling would be my first thought. a new plug has enough of a spark to run, however add a bit of oil mist and the plug resistance goes up enough to stop spark. I have seen this a few times. change the coil and wire along with the plug.

 ummm, well, errr, its a british seagull, circa 1969, but i did take the same plug from my champion guide, with the same result! the motor runs ok , misses noticably, but as mentioned before, it kills those plugs in short fashion.

Too much oil, too much fuel, or not enough compression or ignition energy. See if the ignition can jump a 3/8" gap first.

the motor is supposed to use 10:1 mix, im using 16:1 from my 57 johnson, it has amazing compression for a tiny motor....just by feel, (cant get a number, my compression tester doesnt have an adapter for that large of a plug hole). the spark definitely wont jump 3/8, it lucky to jump 1/8!
i will try the d-9 and see if that helps the issue.

thanks guys!

There ya go, that's it.

Point gap setting, weak magnet, bad or wrong value capacitor, arcing across insulation, or something wrong with the winding of whatever it is we're talking about. (flywheel or impact magneto)

we have a direction.....weak spark. now fix the spark, and the engine will run just fine.

found out theres a cork gasket under the coil (no condenser to be seen), that gasket HAS to be intact...it is, and dry....it wasnt! heres a cuple of pics of the motor, it now starts first pull, no choke, warm or cold.DSCF1635.jpgDSCF1636.jpg
