Re: King Cobra 351 Starting Problem

I don't have my meter in front of me but this is what I remember

My meter has several ohm settings

200
2000
20k
200k
2000k

On the 20k the reading was 10.44
on the 200k the reading was 1.0

When I put it on 2000 I expected to get 104.4
and on the 200 I expected to get 1044 but I got the 1 way out to the left like its out of range.

New Development.

Boat was put in the water after it was summerized.

He (not the boat shop, some one else) forgot to put the plug in the boat and tied it up to his dock. The back of the boat filled with water, leaving the water line on the boat that thought was due do the plug hole being stopped up. He ran the boat to try and get it back on the trailer but it wouldn't plane off so he took it back to his dock and used an aquarium pump to pump the water out.

I am trying to figure out how to assess the damage done. And now I am thinking that I might have to take it to the shop. I am woried that with water in the oil it will mean major bucks even if it is minor.

This could have led to the ignition problem as well.

I don't know where to start.

Drain the oil, fill with new oil then try again to get it to start.

Just take it to the shop and pay whatever it is they charge????

Here's a picture, if I did it right. Most auto parts stores have them

Re: King Cobra 351 Starting Problem

Hat's off to everyone here for all the advice and tips. I broke down and took it to the shop that winterized/de-winterized it. I just couldn't seem to wrap my brain around all the issues. They pulled the dipstick and there wasn't but a tad of water in the oil so they believe that is not going to be a big issue. Probably will come back to the first suggestion given by Bondo. Tune up and clean the carb / rebuild the carb.

I have learned a lot and still have lots to learn.

I will post back when it is back running.
