Hi to all, I have a 1991 5.7LE 260hp. with the king cobra out drives, I just noticed some water entering the inside of the boat through the transome, around the lower middle part. I think it could be coming from a bellow but my mechanic thinks the eng must come out because he thinks its coming from the "Y" pipe. any ideas? Thanks.

Doesn't do any good to guess which one is leaking, you are going to have to find the leak. The leak will not be determined by which area gets the most votes.<br />There is a possibility of either place leaking, the easiest thing to do is pull the drive. If there is water in the ujoint bellows, then you have found your problem.

and while the drive is off and if you suspect it still could be a y pipe there is a fairly easy test.

It may also be the shift cable hose or the water pickup or even a leaking transom seal .I'dd launch it ,moor it at the end of the ramp ,get back there with a flashlight ,and watch.
