Re: king cobra please help
Ayuh,... Wait til ya Gotta buy Parts.....
Sorry, I can't help ya,...
I'd probably figure out where the cable connects to it,+ have a Look...
Maybe Rick will find this, he had 1, til he swapped in a Merc/ Bravo driveline...
Yeah...
I had an 87 King Kobra Dog-clutch model.
Yours is a cone clutch model that is the infamous "interim" drive.
That one is more rare than all the previous drives because they only made it for a couple of years. It's not the same as the Cobra SX/VP SX drive.
1. You're going to need an OEM service manual of the correct year that specifies your model number.
2. There's not a lot of places that will have anyone that went to the OMC school on that model...... So anyone working on will probably say $Sure! I'll have a look$$
3. You may be able to put a Volvo Penta drive on it and you can certainly do what I did. (you probably also have the Spitfire ignition. You cannot buy parts for it either)
There's certain models of OMC that you just cannot get certain parts for anymore because there's no OMC. On those models that they only made a few, the "aftermarket" is not supporting them because there's not enough out there for them to make any money.
I wish I had better news for you.
Sorry about that.
Rick
