knob under ignition switch?

i just picked up a 1987 Blue Fin Sportaman 1900, with a v4 110 evinrude, what is that black knob just under the ignition switch? i'm not used to 2-stroke motors, is it an air adjustment?

If it is on the controls, it might be a connection for a tach with a slip-on cover. That is what it is on my controls.

Could be a fast idle adjustment.

should be the plug in for the tach. if its the factory white jonnyrude control box. it has a rubber cap on it with 3 sockets underneath.

The fast idle set under the key and above the tack plug. Fast iddle looks like the head of a thumb screw.

That knob is a throttle friction adjustment. If the throttle lever tends to creep on its own, tighten the knob (clockwise) to increase tension on the throttle lever. If the throttle works too hard, try loosening it a little. The rubber three pin connector beneath that know is a tach connection (+12V, gnd, and sense).

Bingo!<br />At least that's what it is on my 1986 Evinrude control box.
