Re: Knock when i decellerate 100HP Chrysler

Yeah, Mick--she rode on about the last 18 inches of hull. She is a flat bottom with a riding pad so she rides pretty high. Don't ask her to turn at speed though, she just skids. I need to slow down to about 40 to turn.

I did have a 125 on it but --economics--I sold it to a guy with a pontoon that needed the power and he had the right money. Money talks and B.S. walks! LOL

Right now, I have my 140 on it but the engine is sick and needs some work. If I ever get it running well, I hope to top 65 with a couple of modifications to the hull.-- Like spray deflectors and turn fins

I like that half cabin. Classic design.

Re: Knock when i decellerate 100HP Chrysler

Ya know Mick: That's kind of a small lake the engine is in LOL.

Seriously: If you can find a 120, 125, or 140, It is a direct swap to mount on the big TC carbs and manifolds. You won't make it into a barn burner but you should squeak out another 5 or so horsepower.

Careful with the 120 though: Some of them had smaller WB carbs like your 100 and the 105s

Re: Knock when i decellerate 100HP Chrysler

Doesn't matter much they all have a relatively close jet size from .093 to .096. My chart does not show a 120 with TC carbs but I am sure they did come that way --perhaps later models.

So, you have a choice of TC5A, TC5C, or TC5E from the 130, 135, and 140 or TC6B from the 125. As I say, it is a direct replacement--no need to change jet size.

frank would I need the Reed manifolds? off the 120 125 135 or 140, Tim's outboards has advise me that they have a pair for $50 off a 105HP, would I be better going for a 120 with a tilston etc for more HP?

Looking at it I think I would go the TC6B so as not to increase the jet by so much, is it a matter of straight swap with carbies bolt off wb and bolt on tc?

Ok there is a chappy selling a whole 135hp motor for 200, it doesn't look that good but I could get all the parts I need, it also has the carbie covers :p

Reeds on all 3 and 4 cylinder engines are the same so why bother buying another set? The only difference is the higher horsepower engines have the reed stop plate set for more opening and you can bend them yourself. You don't want the manifolds off a 105 because they only came with the small WB carbs.

Yeah, I forgot: originally you wanted carb covers. Usually they break but yeah, the 135 should have them if it is complete. 200 bucks for a complete engine is a decent deal if you get the lower unit and prop. It is a really good deal if you get a functioning tilt and trim.

Here are a couple of photos of carb covers, manifolds, and reeds. I tried the later Force square tipped reeds and they do not make any appreciable difference. You can see I needed to use flat head screws and I needed to grind down the screw bosses so they would fit into my Chrysler. You can also see that to swap all you need is the carb and the manifold cover.

Ok got ya need the manifold too. wasn't go to bother with reeds just was wondering if thats where the manifold was you were talking about, now you have shown the pics I know it is what you were talking about :p, yea this motor doesn't need reeds they are all fine.
I also noticed on yours besides the covers I would die for was that you had put the incoming fuel line into a t fitting in the middle of the carbs, does this help with distribution of petrol as I also noticed you put it towards the top carb.
Hey one last thing, you don't want to sell your carb covers do you :p

The placement of the fuel filter doesn't seem to make a difference in fuel delivery. Yeah, my initial line of reasoning was that if something disrupted fuel flow, it would do so more equally to both carbs and reduce the chance of detonation damage. This was actually poor reasoning. The main advantage to this placement is that with the 90 degree fuel filter I use, it has the filter more upright and no air bubble remains while running. It is also easier to see the filter.

AH, NO! I do not want to sell the carb covers-----Well, on second thought, maybe for $1000 each LOL.

As far as the carb covers: You can do it too. Clean them well then very lightly sand or steel wool them. Prime with plastic primer then paint in your color choice. NOW: Go to the junkyard and salvage Chrysler pentastars from 70s and 80s autos. The Chrysler logo was taken from dashboards. I forget what I used to glue them onto the covers but it must be gas and oil resistant.

Yes you can put a deflector on the transducer mount.
Post a pic of your mount.
A whole motor for $200AU is like $600US. BUY!!!
A Chrysler trim guage? That's a find by itself.
You have the sending unit?

Re: Knock when i decellerate 100HP Chrysler

Jerryjerry mate you should see this 100hpI have been working on, its like it has come out of the factory except the lower unit is scratched up the trunk is clean and the inside is immacualte, but besides that the $200 one for sale is compared to about $180 US mate ya got the calcs wrong :p. Also it is a 140HP so I got the manifold flange as well, just like Franky told me too :D. So yea all the gauges and the carbies, carbie covers and manifold for $100, saves me getting the motor here, the power head is gone on the 140hp anyway, thats why he is selling parts. Oh yes and have sender with tilt trim.
