knocking noise at low RPM??

when I first start after sitting still. Like barely giving it any throttle at all. It seems to be a knock noise or it might just be it skipping. Not quit sure. When I give it more throttle it does fine. What do I need to check.

What year? engine? where is the knocking noise?
I have similar noise down on the starboard side near the starter, someone on here told me it was a flapper in the exhaust, bit of a pain to get at. Get a stethoscope and try and locate the source of the noise.

I've had that problem a couple of times. Check to see if all cylinders are firing. Could be a tulip'd valve. Spark knock.
