Knots

[Five O'Clock]

hey everybody,

looking for some input for a few different knots i'll be using this year...

- for main line to leader, i normally use the Albright knot (i think thats what its called)
- for leader/line to baited hook, i use the snell knot
- for leader/line to crankbait or lure, i use the cinch knot (i think thats what its called)

anybody have other recommendations, basically they've used these knots before, then switched and found a significant difference?

i'll be on the boat while doing this, so i really dont want something too complicated. don't need to be taking 10 minutes to tie a knot when the blitz is on while getting tossed around by the waves... you know what i'm talking about

On the leader to main line connection I use either a Double Uni on a mono to mono or a Slim Beauty on a braid to mono connecton.

On the other two connections I use the improved Clinch knot or a Palomar knot.

You only need two knots for salt water fishing. both are quick and dependable. Never ever lost a fish using these knots.

2. Polamar knot

I have been a big fan of the universal knot (Uniknot) for about 50 years. I use it for just about anything. The only thing I vary is how many turns of the tag end before I cinch her up.

I second that. I use the palomar for all of my terminal connections and loop knot for leader/line to lure connection. The palomar is a very simple, no-fail knot.

is the duncan loop knot the same as the uni knot?

Not quite the same.

go through the eye like the uni, come back about 6 inches make loop, wrap tag end 6-8 times inside & over loop for salt water fishing, pull tight to the eye. take your index and thumb slide knot back 1/4 inch, when using lures creates loop for lure to swim better.
