My generator keeps shutting down on my 260 Sundancer after a few minutes of operation.

I've had the carburetor rebuilt and set. My sparkplugs, fuel filter, fuel lines have been flushed and water pump impeller has been changed and the previous one did not have any broken vanes at all. I have also checked the oil in the unit and it is showing the correct level of oil with the oil cap not screwed in all the way.

My first guess is that it is not drawing in enough water into the generator causing it to shut down... It does radiate some heat after running for a few minutes and definitely seems as if it is overheating. I'm looking for pointers what to check on the cooling system to solve the problem. Generator has low hours and has not been used much 188 hours... It was used much more by previous owner however it's likely been 2-3 years at min.

When its running does it pump water out the exhaust port?

Most the Gens have a string of switches that can kill the motor. Most of them a daisy chained and if one closes it kills the motor. Temp, Oil pressure, exhaust temp.

Other things can be because the internal voltage is not correct

You see any LED's lighted or change?

I did not see any LEDs lighted or change. I did not check it. I will have to see which exhaust port it should be shooting water out of. You are talking about a thru hull exhaust port it should be spilling hot water through correct?

Water comes from the thru hull, then thru sea strainer to Gen. Water then goes thru Gen heat exchanger and dischargers over the side

Figured out the issue with why the water was not coming out. It was the coupler behind the water pump itself. Completely disintegrated... Now it's changed out but I still have issues.

Now my generator won't even stay on for more than 10-15 seconds the last time it shut down after the 2-3 min of run time. Is there any sort of reset on the generator other than the breaker switch itself?

The Gen isn't that smart. Gen starts, and run relay energizes to keep it running. Sensors/Switches on the run relay circuit are mostly daisy changed together. If one shows a problem, it disconnects the run relay K5

Now for the relay lights do I need to remove a cover to see the them light up?

Then we're back to the other switches. Locate the them by the single wires on them and their daisy chained
