A few of these need to be handed out and whats more is lessons learned. First off and most important is never assume.
I look back now on my eppisode and assume is what started it all. I bought a used 79' 200 to repower my boat. First time in the water for final adjustments, the prop turned backwards.(I had a RH prop) Go to the local repair place and the main man said I have a counterrotater but they ussually have a C or CR stamped on the prop shaft. Get a LH prop and away I go.
Turns out this motor had a gaulded piston. A buddy has an 81' 235 with a broke ring. Both engines are out of tollerance but the 235' is in better shape. Overhauled the 235', on the water for the first time for final adjs. and.... prop turns backwards.(RH prop again) Get LH prop and away I go. Also when I had the 200' on it started to jump in and out of gear. thought the shifter was wore-out being its been on the boat since 88', so bought a new side mount shifter.
Well on the water, fresh engine, new shifter, LH prop and gonna fill the box with trout. Dang thing starts jumping in and out of gear.

Well to read the rest of the story go to this:

Frankenstien and I will be back on the water.
I'd like to thank the people responsible for this forum. I'd really like to say " Thanks Dhadley for the time and effort you've spent helping me solve my problem."
Mr. Hadley, if you ever make it down to the coastal bend, look me up, Baffin Bay and I will look forward to your visit.

You're very welcome! That was most interesting to say the least!

Good luck!
