1980 Chrysler 100 HP outboard Model #1002HOAN. Trying to remove spool to replace O-rings, but the puller won't move it. Is the spool actually threaded into the housing? Is there anything else to prevent it from sliding straight out? If it is coorded in place, any ideas of how to free?

I'm not sure what you mean by spool...the bearing carrier, the part that propshaft travels thru and hold everything in and waterproof? if that is what you are working on, it just has a large o-ring that can be oiled and twisted and made to come out. If you look at your manual, you can see an exploded diagram that will show you. If you dont hope this helps, and if not try again with another description and mybe someone can help...just a thought :)

Yes that is it. It won't move after removing the obvious bolts and using a whell remover as demonstrated in the manuel. It appears to be frozen if there isn't anything like threads or something I've missed. The manual and parts site call it a "SPOOL, PROPELLER SHAFT BEARING W/SEALS"
