Spark plug chart says my motor 71- 60 horse, takes L76v spark plugs, Wallymart has a special on L78v,almost giving them away,so I want to buy a bunch, anybody know the difference and can I use them?
How are your plugs now ?
Black or white , or something in between ?
I would stick with the recommended plug , but it all depends on your needs , with the L78v you will get a hotter plug ,witch is fine if you got black oily plugs but bad if your plugs already are white ( should be light brown )

clip from www.championsparkplugs.com :
Remember, CHAMPION PLUGS GET HOTTER THE HIGHER THE NUMBER, COLDER THE LOWER THE NUMBER.
too hot a spark plug can cause severe engine damage

Image from www.championsparkplugs.com .
Yes have to agree on that one .

But if you know what you are doing , you can make some " adjustments"
Manufactures recommendations will always work ,
but if you "race" the engine then you might want to consider a colder plug , on the opposite if you just use engine for trolling then you "might" want a hotter plug .

Best way to say it ,follow the Manufactures recommendations = run safe .
