Labels on console. Light on top of engine.. ? help trolling motor help

I'm 14 and i just got my first carolina skiff with a 40hp johnson.
The boat has about 8 switches with about 4 unlabeled.
Where can i purchase these labels for the nav. lights, livewell, stern lgiht, ext.

Also my stern light it mounted ontop of the cowling on the motor. Does this light only turn on when the engine is running, no switch turns it on. Help? thanks


Lastly, the boat is set up for a bow mount trolling motor with the plug in on the front casting deck. Last i checked the minn kota's i looked at don't have the plugs but just wires that connect the the + and - of the battery. Can i purchase this plug somewhere?

for labels, you can just goto walmart and get a labeler for $20, otherwise i'm sure you can buy boating lables at a marine store(prolly cost more tho)

there should be a switch for your stern light. but you panel might be set up to only have power to it when the engine is running. i would get it re wired to a switch with direct batt power. if you want to fish at night or sit out late and watch fireworks on the 4th or something, would suck to HAVE to have your engine running.

yup, you should be able to buy just the plug and wire it up. some times it is just a genaric 12V 2 prong plug not associated with the trolling motor co. so you might have to buy both ends of it and replace the whole thing.

That's pretty unusual because the cowling needs to come off for service.
First, open the cowling to see if the light is electrically connected. Should have 2 wires, positive and negative. I suspect that it's just screwed down without any wiring....

Sure. Make sure it's compatable with your model, and be aware that some of them need 24V.

the labels are cabel labels which will wear off after a while. I'm looking for small plastic labels that can be screwed/rivited on or even 5200ed on.

As for the stern light, i am going to re wire it eventually.

Yeah, I figured you'd want the least expensive label. I don't see the hard plastic ones on iboats site, but they're stock items at any West Marine.

As for the stern light, i am going to re wire it eventually.

Well i went to the one located at my town and they said they don't carry them.. the shops brand new though (1 or 2 months old)
I can go to many other boating shops, I do live in florida... can't be to hard to find one
