1982 350 MERCRUISER 4BBL QUADRAJET ....when throttle up loses power severely . I am running electric fuel pump when the boat came with mechanical . I have never ran the boat on mechanical pump . Is it possible for the electric pump to not have enough volume to keep up with the fuel needed ?? Also does anyone know the timing spec for checking the advance on the distributor ? I have checked all the weights in the distributor and cleaned them . You can physically make them work freely , but not sure if the distributor is advancing properly . The boat runs perfectly with no load on it ...as soon as you drop her in the water this happens . The timing is set at 8 degrees btdc right now at idle . thx

Ayuh,... My guess is, like 99% of the threads lately with this same problem,...

Yer not gettin' good fuel flow...
Either yer Gas is Bad, or the filters are full of water, or the tank ain't givin' up it's fuel...

Have ya checked the condition of the Fuel, 'n the Filters,..??

Re: Lack of power

Sorry about the multiple posts ...accidentally posted in wrong section and do not know how to delete them . I have new filters on the boat , all seemed pretty ok when I changed them though . Changed water seperator filter and the one at the carb . Some debris in the carb filter but very minimal . No signs of water either . Have been using all non ethanol gas the entire season and the fuel I had left from the winter was treated before winterizing . This is why I was asking about the pump mechanical vs electric . I have the electric pump in front of the seperator vs the mechanical which would be behind on the block.
