Lake Delavan advice

Hey all,

Looking to take the family out next weekend and thinking about Lake Delavan. Couple of questions for those familiar with it:
1. Is the launch on Hwy 50 on the north end the only public launch? Saw others that seemed private but that's it. Launch fee range?
2. Where are the good shallow areas to lay up and let the kids swim around? I saw some beaches but how close can we get?

Thanks in advance
Ken

Re: Lake Delavan advice

Well, since no one answered, I'll fill in some info in case someone else searches in the future:

Launch fees for resident 20'+ is 12.50. Didn't pay attention to other sizes. They have a pretty slick launch setup. You drive forward to an available prep area marked on the pavement. These are all in a line so everyone is sequential. Once ready, you pull forward where someone will direct you to a launch spot. Two in, two out, although they will use all four as needed. Once you've launched, someone in a golf cart will lead you back around to a parking spot. Keeps it orderly and maximizes the space. There's probably room for 100+ trailers. I think it's the only launch.

Lake is a heavy fishing lake. Arriving at 8am on a Saturday meant navigating an obstacle course once out of the launch bay. Lots of vegetation in the water.

There's a beach area near the launch. You can tie up outside the marked swim area or over by the pier and it's still pretty shallow. We'll go again, even though Geneva is closer.

How was the water quality? Last time I was there the water was awfully green, but I know they tried to clean it up some years ago.
