Re: Lake Mead Stripers
OK here goes, I have never fished the area however I have fished for striper for a long time. We mostly use live bait Shad or Blue Hering about 6" long. The first thing is to have a good fish finder and look for balls of bait then look for balls of bait with archs in and under it. We use a three foot leader ( just use standard fishing line) with a swivel and a 3/4 to one once egg weight that can slide up the line and stop at the swivel. let out enough line to be at the level of the bait and troll slow (Trolling Motor) or drift. When you catch one be prepared to catch on all lines they run in packs.
We have also used umbrella rigs I am sure you can google them however research this to find out how many hooked lures you can use. With these use ALOT of weight or a down riger it needs to be down to the fish and you can troll about 3 mph.
If it is hot look at deep water. We have caught them up to 100 foot deep so baitcasters are needed.
I am no expert but hope it helps let me know how you do and it is very additive.
