Lake of the ozarks info

Hi, I was wondering if anyone goes boating on the lake of the ozarks in march or April. Ill be down then (from wisconsin) and really want to go boating but I don't want to drag the boat down if its all closed.

That's a bit early for some of the mainstream partying but it will definitely not be closed. There are folks that boat on it all year long. Which part of the lake are you thinking about staying on? There are tons of restaurants on the water and things to do on land. The water will be a little cold though. Here are some places I'd recommend depending upon where you are:

Dog Days - their Jamaican Jerk wings are the best wings you will have in your life.

Captain Rons - great atmosphere

H. toads - I'm not sure when their concert series will start this year but they bring in some great names

Shady Gators or Lazy Gators depending upon what you are looking for.

When we lived on Lake of the Ozarks we usually started boating around April 1st. If the weather cooperates you can certainly be on the water sooner, just be advised that many of the on-water establishments may not be open yet. Call ahead. H. Toads stays open year 'round but that's one of the few places that does. You can see us in the attached pics pulling up to Toad's snow covered dock in late March; the weather can be "iffy" that time of year.

The first "big" event is spring harbor hop on May 4th. Many places don't open until then.

Without all the tourists the lake has a much different "feel". Quiet, peaceful....if you aren't looking for the party cove crowd you'll like it. There's still places to eat and drink, just not the huge variety you see during the high season.
