The conversion is sweeter than you may think. The motor should sit high enough in the frame so the oil pan doesnt interfere with the axle/steering. And the oil cooler separates from the Mercedes radiator so it can be mounted near the LC's. You only need a vacuum on/off switch to shut it down. The stock air filter is adequet too.
Remember most boneyard TurboDeisels will have a ton of miles on them and prolly be worn pretty good.
If you found a '81-'83 300D Turbodeisel (123 chassis) in a bone yard. The glowplug harness/temp sender/glow relay is basically integral. The alternator/starter harness is too.But the wiring, now that is a real bear.
