Re: Lanyard switch?

If you have a kill switch it will located on your dash and be very obvious. Either in the form of a clip or a circular snap on device. Have you tried starting the engine? If it did start then you don't have one and don't need one. I'm really not sure if they were installed during that year model - should be though. Send me your HIN and I'll double check.
Never mind, found it - Yes, you should have one. Will be a round, red button that accepts the clip ( like a jet ski ). Will be located right next to the steering wheel pretty close to your ignition switch.

Yes, it should be on the left of the steering wheel, a thin black cord (curled up, or just hanging) with a piece of plastic on the end, that acts like a spacer to keep the spring loaded switch in the out (run) position, they are available, but you can temporarly disconnect it under the motors hood, I forgot what color wire it is though, you just need to unscrew the wire loop, at the terminal block.

Yea that sounds like your lanyard switch has been activated.

I did that last year by accident and got my motor doing that while the key was held on with the starter turning the motor and the throttle open. Smoke, backfire and hell!

As soon as I remembered the switch it fired right up!
