large case v6 lower unit ?

i have a v6 lower off a 1983 omc sea drive unit the case seams to be larger then the one that is on the my 1987 200 evinrude looper will it make a difference? <br /><br /> thanks John

Mr_Gibbs..... Seems to be is not a deffinite statement. The unit is either larger or it is not. The physical dimensions should be the same, however the gear ratio may be different.

It is possible that your sea drive, like the commercial V6s uses the lower unit from the V8 outboards, and similar to the non-cone clutch king cobra lowers. These are larger, and stronger, but take the same props as the standard v6 lowers. I believe that the ratio is the same at 1.86:1.

thank you ,they are larger ,as long as i could use them on a v6. and the ratio is the same i have 2 of them i will hold on to them in case i need to replace mine, which had a lot of water in it when i pulled the boat out,this year, and have since replaced the seals <br /><br /> tight lines<br /><br /> John
