Large Jet Boat. How do we measure thrust?

I'm looking at buying an old 24ft fireboat at an auction..Don't ask me why,just always thought they were too cool, I guess.<br />And the price will probly be right.<br />But I know didly about these odd creatures. The guy I talked to said it had diminished thrust, but that the engine was a brand new short block. It is probably the impeller in the turbine,but the manufacturer needs to know thrust of the boat. He said it would be posted on a plate on the turbine....No plate.<br />So how do I calculate the thrust of this puppy?<br />Any sugestions? (If not, don't feel bad,we are ALL scratchin our collective heads down here on this one).

From my years of selling jet boats I don't remember a plate that stated thrust. Performance was dependant on boat size, HP, type of pump, single or multiple stage and impeller size.<br />Do you know the brand of jet pump in the boat?<br />****

I'll have to look Monday,but it was Badger or baget or somethin like that.<br />It isn't mounted,as the discharge is also in need of repair. It has a single dishcharge,feeding a double-flange ( 1 for propulsion,1 for the water gun).<br />Engine is 500 Mercruiser, direct drive (from what I could see).

hi well don't know anything about what your inquiring about but ,really sounds like possibly your impellar as long as the engine works good....i do know that a new impellar for a basic jet ski is worth around 500 bucks<br /> just a tid bit of info

Oh well, I was outbid. I didn't think anyone would want that old tank, but I quit bidding when it got over 2K. It went for $5200!!
