hey, i just bought a 16 ft larson "lapline" tri hull im guessing 70's (if you can tell me the year thank you!) currently we have the top separated from the hull and have gutted everything transom was shot but all the fiberglass is solid, this is my first re-do and i was wondering if anyone had any tips on types of wood to use for the transom and keel board, how to build a frame and basically where to start on the rebuild i have a good crew willing to help me so if you can give us some help i could post pictures along the way and with your help we could get her on the water pretty quick

Re: Larson Lapnline 16ft Restore/re-do

Welcome to iBoats!

Lots of help here on the Forum. We LOVE Pics, so post some up. I have posted some on how I recommend fabricating Transoms, Stringers and Decks. I recommend using Marine Grade Plywood, or AC Ext. Grade Fir Plywood or MDO plywood. I recommend Polyester Resin, Mat, and 1708 Biaxial Cloth. You will also need Cabosil and Chopped Fibers, Bubble Buster roller and other misc. tools. www.uscomposites.com is a great online source for material.

Hmmmm being in London kind of hard to say what is available. For the transom and the keel you should laminate your plywood together. Just make sure whatever plywood you get to use is exterior rated with exterior glue.

Welcome to iboats and the restoration section.
