How old is it, (approximately?)

I went to NADA and didn't see Las Vegas listed as a manufacturer?

I've been searching for a boat the past month and saw a Las Vegas Sahara listed somewhere out here int he southwest, but don't remember anything about it except for the unique manufacturer and model name.

Re: Las Vegas boat company

Funny story :D
I got the Boat home about 6pm last night. There was plenty of sunlight to clean out the boat before it got dark. I got the rake and broom and started cleaning. I got about half of the debris from the bottom of the boat and heard some ruffling in the remaining debris. At that point 5000 cockroaches made a break for it. I ran to the shed and found a full can of ant and roach killer and proceeded to coat the interior of the entire boat with a heavy dose of die die die you stinking cucarachas. OK a stupid question now?

I know there is more of the discussing insect still in there. Should I cover it and bug-bomb them or just kill them as I see them? I was told I will never get them all till the flooris out and every crevice is clean?

Cool old boat. I'm guessing much older than 1986. Should be a rocket if you can get that old Tower of Power running strong. You can bug bomb it but you're going to have to completely gut that sucker and they'll probably leave once there's nowhere left to hide.

I got a question about cutting the bottom deck off of my boat. I have gone through two cutting tools. They last about 15 min then burn up. Is it the fiber glass? If so is there a way to protect the tools?

I can't believe I found you asking the same question I was looking for an answer to. My husband and I just purchased an old boat to restore, wanted to restore it to it's original state (we restore antique tractors, I insist upon them being all original, just a thing of mine I guess), went looking for information online about Sahara boat made by Las Vegas Boat Company and couldn't find the first bit of information.

Would love to see this beautiful boat restored to it's original glory, but hard to do when you have nothing to reference by. Have someone working on the motor as we speak, gorgeous old Mercury motor, looks to be original to the boat also, found out it is a early 1970's model, so we are thinking the boat may be around that time frame also, not sure though.

If by any chance you have found any iformation on the company or model of boat, I would really appreciate knowing. And if I have any luck tracking down any info, I will be sure to relay it on to you. In the mean time, good luck with your restore!

I bought a Sahara yesterday. It's a hull, trailer and a 135 Mercury. No seats, carpet or much of anything else. I had never heard of Las Vegas Boat Company before. Have you found anything else since your original post? Any idea what it would be worth?

Fiberglass is very tough on cutting blades. Most people remove the deck of the boat with a circular saw. A carbide tip blade should do it. Just set the depth of the cut to be only 1/8" more than the thickness of the deck to avoid damaging the hull or anything else that might be down there. Another useful tool is the 4" grinder.

Nice looking boat.
